What is an Authorised Contact?
When a client writes their Will with Kin Wills, they may name one or more trusted individuals as Authorised Contacts. This means the client has authorised us to communicate with you regarding their Will, should the need arise in future.
Why was I listed?
Clients name Authorised Contacts based on trust. This may include family members, executors, or other individuals close to them who should be aware that a Will exists and know who to contact for assistance.
Does this mean I am the executor of the Will?
Not necessarily. An executor is formally appointed within the Will to carry out its instructions. You may or may not also be the executor. Being named an Authorised Contact simply means Kin Wills is able to assist you should you contact us.
What assistance can I request as an Authorised Contact?
You may contact us for guidance on next steps, or to be referred to the relevant parties for probate assistance. Please refer to the following section regarding the information we are able to share.
Can you disclose the contents of the Will?
No. Kin Wills is not able to disclose the contents of a Will to an Authorised Contact. This is to protect the privacy of the individual who made it. Information regarding the contents of a Will is typically handled by the executor or the relevant authorities in due course, such as during probate.
Is any action required from me at this time?
No action is required at this time. This page serves to inform you of your role as an Authorised Contact and how to reach us when required.
